The Awards Scheme recognises the contributions and efforts provided by our volunteers who's hard work, dedication and commitment keeps the sport running smoothly.  The following Awards are presented each year:

Award Nominations
 
The awards process works as follows:
  • Triathlon London regional award nominations must be received by Friday 25th September. Regional and National winners from 2008 are ineligible for nomination during 2009.
  • Online voting for the candidates goes live on Thursday 1st October on the British Triathlon website, where members can login and vote.
  • Online voting will close on Wednesday 28th October when the Triathlon London committee will be notified of the Triathlon London Award winners. All regional winners will be put forward for the National Awards, decided by an independent panel and announced at the British Triathlon Awards Dinner on Saturday 14th November at the Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel, Castle Donington.
  • The Triathlon London Awards will be presented at the Triathlon London Awards party to be held on Friday 20th November at Thames Rowing Club, Putney Embankment, SW15.
Triathlon London Volunteer Award Nominations
 
We are accepting nominations in each of the following four categories:
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Young Volunteer of the Year (14-25 years)
  • Official of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
Nominees are only allowed to be entered in to one category, for example an individual cannot be nominated in both the Coach of the Year and Volunteer of the Year categories. Regional winners from 2008 (ie. Alice Clemens, Conan Gibney, Steve Newell & Andrew Tong) are ineligible for nomination. Executive Board members and staff members of British Triathlon or Triathlon England are not eligible for nomination.
 
To submit your nomination in one or all of these categories, please download and complete the Nomination Form and return it by email to alisonsibcy@britishtriathlon.org.
 
Please make sure your nominations fulfill the following Criteria for Volunteer Awards Categories:
 
Volunteer of the Year:
  • Contributed a significant amount of personal time to their volunteering within the sport
  • They should have made a notable commitment and a significant contribution throughout the past 12 months
  • Have been motivational and positive throughout their time volunteering
  • Shown development and a desire to learn new skills
  • Acted as a role model for other people within the club
  • Should hold a current British Triathlon membership and be a member of an affiliated club
Young Volunteer of the Year:
  • Between 14 and 25 years of age
  • Contributed a significant amount of personal time to their volunteering within the sport
  • The young volunteer should have made a notable commitment and a significant contribution throughout the past 12 months
  • Have been motivational and positive throughout their time volunteering
  • Shown development and a desire to learn new skills
  • Acted as a role model for other young people within the club
  • Should hold a current British Triathlon membership and be a member of an affiliated club
 
Official of the Year:
  • Contributed a significant amount of personal time to officiating within the region
  • A willingness to assist other regions if the need arises
  • Consistently hard working and helpful
  • Have conducted themselves professionally at all times, remaining diplomatic in difficult situations
  • Have been a good role model and inspirational and motivational to others
  • Should have been officiating for at least 3 years, with a significant contribution in the past 12 months
  • They should be a current British Triathlon membership and hold a British Triathlon Officiating award
 
Coach of the Year:
  • Must be a member of an affiliated club and hold a current British Triathlon membership
  • The coach must hold a British Triathlon or 1st4sport UKCC Qualification in triathlon
  • Should have provided high quality coaching for no less than 2 years, with a significant impact in the past 12 months
  • The coach should conduct themselves professionally at all times and be athlete centered
  • Should encourage the development of athletes, other coaches, the club and the region
  • The coach must be motivational; encouraging the development of athletes, increasing participation or nurturing talent
  • Both voluntary and paid coaches are eligible for nomination, excluding those whose main source of income is derived from coaching  
National Club & Event Award Nominations
 
Nominations for Club of the Year and Event of the Year should be submitted to the Triathlon London Regional Committee, who will select one nominee in each category for submission to the British Triathlon National Awards Panel.
 
Submissions should be sent by email to secretary@triathlonlondon.org no later than Friday 25th September. For both awards, please identify in no more than 500 words why you feel that your nominee deserves to win the National award, referring the Criteria for Club and Event of the Year:
 
Club of the Year:
 
Awarded to the club which has demonstrated significant achievements in the past year
  • Must be affiliated to British Triathlon and hold either Clubmark or STARmark accreditation
  • Provided high quality coaching to all athletes
  • Have increased participation levels throughout the past 12 months
  • Shown commitment to and achievement in developing athletes, volunteers, coaches and officials
  • Have a documented participant pathway in place and a commitment to develop athletes in accordance with this
  • What are the club's key achievements over the past 12 months?
  • Has the club been inclusive to all and reduced barriers to participation?
  • Evidence of the club standing out within the region
Event of the Year:
 
Awarded to an event that has successfully provided a great experience of Triathlon for all ages and abilities
  • Value for money
  • Event administration, registration and briefing
  • Facilities, changing, transition, security and parking available for athletes and spectators
  • Speed of results availability
  • Course design and safety
  • Quality of marshalling and refereeing
  • Commentary and additional entertainment
  • Proactive in promoting and marketing the event and attracting new competitors
  • Positive feedback from athletes and spectators
  • Must have been permitted by one of the Home Nations and have occurred during 2009
