Coaching is at the heart of triathlon performance at every level from novice children and adults participating in their first event, through to preparing athletes for the Olympic Games. Coaches are vital to the success of triathlon in the UK. British Triathlon as the governing body has a duty to ensure that coaches are supported in their activities and are given the opportunity to further their own personal development.The British Triathlon Coach Education Programme has been produced in conjunction with Sports Coach UK to improve the quality and consistency of triathlon coaching at all levels throughout the UK. The course content has been developed in line with the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC). The programme currently consists of three levels of award, catering for basic skills for groups through to developing performance training for individual athletes. These are:
To ensure high quality and consistent delivery, all courses are delivered by trained British Triathlon Coach Education Tutors, who have a wealth of triathlon and coaching knowledge and expertise. Support for coaches is also provided at a local level by the Triathlon London Regional Programme Managers and Triathlon London's Coaching Coordinator James Beckinsale.
